I know that this completely goes against my interior designer ways; however I must admit that I hung these west elm picture ledges legit MONTHS ago yet are just getting around to decorating them now. I know I know, how can I possibly survive sitting in my living room staring at an incomplete project for so long? And to be honest, I don’t really know but somehow I lived. There was a month there where I thought I wanted to move out so I didn’t want to put in the effort to decorate. And I do go home to Philadelphia a lot on weekends. But whatever the reason I am completing the project now, so be proud.
This past weekend I gathered the odds and ends that I had been hording specifically for this, and laid them all out on the floor. As you can see, my buddy loves to help me decorate. It honestly always helps to see everything that I have to work with all laid out right in front of me. This way I can see if there are any items that can be eliminate or need to be added. It also makes it a lot easier to see what items go well together or the complete opposite, the items that clearly need to be on different shelves.
With all these items, and three 3’ long shelves, it really came down to trial and error though. I would climb onto the ottoman or table (I’m only 5’3” and don’t own a ladder, it’s getting to be an issue) try something, get off, and see if I liked it or not. I did this over and over until I landed on this! And I have to say I love it. Yes, there are still prints that need frames but other than that it's the perfect mixture of new and old, machine-made and hand-made, basically it oozes the exact Sarah Style I so hoped for. Goal officially achieved, at least for this wall.
