shopping with krrb

January 29, 2016

Alright, better late than never right guys? This post is about five months in the making and I have absolutely no excuse other than my brain getting caught up with other activities. Not to mention that this post will have a second part, and my desire to make it as amazing as possible slowed me down considerably. That being said, this activity was definitely on the top of my favorite adventures of 2015.

In late summer, early September, of 2015 I was approached by Krrb.com to see if I wanted to go vintage shopping with them around Brooklyn. For those of you who don’t know Krrb.com, I’m here to tell you it’s your vintage dreams answered through the internet. Krrb allows real life people to connect- in a safe environment- to sell their vintage and furniture goods. And even better, it is so user friendly that a ton of smaller vintage shops around the US use Krrb to list their products- which can be extremely hard to find- making it even easier for anyone anywhere to obtain beautiful vintage pieces.

As all of you might know by now, my love for vintage furniture is kind of insane. So I, of course, jumped at the opportunity. The plan was simple, stop by some of Krrb's favorite vendors Grace & Favor , RePop , Brooklyn Reclimation & Two Jakes and see what we could find. Let me tell you I saw some amazing pieces. At the time I was, unfortunately, not in the position I’m in now (basically needing all new everything for the new apartment), but I was still able to find some great vintage accessories.

This leads me to part two of this post. I was able to find the perfect item for a custom indoor planter and I will go into that part next week with [drum roll please] a video tutorial! To be clear, this is my first ever video tutorial and although I went to art school, I have taken no classes on film or editing at all. So bear with me and check back next week for, what I hope, you all will love.

Happy Monday loves

With the snow storm behind us and an internet filled apartment, I can (finally) now post that we have moved to Brooklyn! It’s been a long LONG journey. After searching for months, we stumbled upon our version of the perfect apartment in mid December and moved in last weekend. A one bedroom plus office for the boyfriend, in a great neighborhood, close to the subway (literally a block away), with a working kitchen and functional bathroom, this apartment seemed like it was sent to us from the landlord heavens.

Snow storm Jonas ended up being a big help to us, because what better way to spend a snow day then unpacking and fixing up a new apartment? Now that we are all moved in (a couple boxes left, but who’s counting?) it’s time to decorate. First things first: area rugs. Post to come. Get excited!

departure from Homepolish

January 14, 2016

It is with a sad heart I write this post, but I'll just break the news right away (pulling off the bandaid) - I have decided to part ways with Homepolish. In case you weren't aware, for the last year and a half I have been a freelance interior designer in New York for Homepolish, however as of last month I made the hard choice to leave the company.

I started with the Homepolish when I was working in a position that allowed me for ample free time, which lead me to Homepolish in the first place. After applying and signing on as one of their freelance designers, I was able to take on a couple clients at a time helping them make their homes as magazine worthy gorgeous as they all deserved. But with my job change last March, I was finding it harder and harder to keep up with all my responsiblities (ie. why this blog was lacking in late 2015). I kept stressing out and I was feeling like I completely let down my clients. So I had to make the choice, and although it was hard, I'm honestly happier now.

The entire Homepolish team and all their designers are so incredibly nice and talented. I am so glad I got to be a part of their community and will continue to support them. Such as the ever so talented, Savannah Grace ( Grace-made ) who essentially created my dream apartment.

I can't wait to see what else Homepolish has in store.

five days.

January 11, 2016

With the countdown officially in progress I could not be more excited to start this new adventure. In case you haven’t been following along, in five days the boyfriend and I will be moving to our new apartment in Brooklyn. This means for the next few months I get to completely redesign my living space (so exciting!). However, it also means this past weekend and the next few days will be filled with packing/organizing our current apartment (not so exciting). Annoying now, yes, but at least in five days we will be in a whole new space. A space I cannot wait to show you all!
